Our beginning was sparked in the late 1960's through a high-school teacher. Eugene Kennedy, who saw education differently then the common flow of students. He saw teachers teach to some, teach to those who could keep up, and leave all the others behind with the comment of "lazy", "uneducated", "slow", "unteachable" and he saw his opportunity. He took his time to work through the best way, not to teach a classroom or a group of children of varied level, but how to teach a single student. How to connect and interact with the materials in a way which made the jump from the unknown to the known.
Being a leader in his field, he unknowingly had come up with the exact technique to be used for years to come for the rehabilitation and education of those who where either neurologically impacts, not given the proper guidance at the right age, or had hit a wall and the world had left them there on their own. Through a focus not on mastering math, complete understanding of English, or any subject-specific matter, he was able to build an individualized-program aimed at each student to allow them the best chance at growth. Having continued development and implementation on his own child, he was able to show that his method not only worked, but also was able to rewire the brain to make the once impossible, very much within grasp. We carry his methods and techniques into the new era with result proving that this classic is here to last. His focus was: Cognitive Education and Critical Thinking. |

Mr. Kennedy was my tutor. He was the first teacher that boosted my confidence and taught me to trust myself. He would argue the wrong answer to get me to argue the right one. That style helped me grow as a student and as a person. I still use many of the lessons he taught me in my life and career. He is an unforgettable person in my life. After reading the notes it looks like he has touched the lives of many and will live on in each of our thoughts, stories and memories. I am eternally grateful and blessed to have known him.

Eugene Kennedy was a truly great, caring teacher, who influenced me deeply as a teacher, reader, writer, critic and in developing a sense of civic duty. His filmmaking mini-courses infused his students with the joy of creative collaboration.
He was strict but never without a sense of humor. Who could forget his way of making us stand straight in line outside his classroom by declaring: “Pretend I’m a giant lawnmower—about to chop off all your arms!!!” I will remember him most, however, for his sensitivity and compassion in noticing that I was having problems concentrating, and in reaching out to my mother, who confided in him about some of the problems we were having at home.
